September, 2013 I called Design Garage to get a quote to repair my broken garage door. They came gave me a quote and THEY took the measurements, color, size, make, model, door design, etc. I had no part in this, (because I had no idea what to order). I made my good faith professional deposit without a complaint. When they came to install door, Joseph realized it was the WRONG DOOR. My current garage door was much lighter than the door they ordered. My husband and I asked if the door would be ok or if we had to wait for a reorder of the correct door. Joseph said NO, we were lucky to get a much better, heavier, and thicker door for the money ($1200.00) they charged. After installation our door sounded and closed a little louder/harder than our other door. They SAID IT'S OK, FINE, NO PROBLEM, NEW DOOR, and NEW SOUND. However, a year later our door breaks. We called the original installers, another company, and Design Garage Doors, (to get a fair rate). The two other companies both said the same thing, the current door is way too heavy and therefore it was just a matter of time before the springs broke carrying the extra heavy weight. My family and I could have gotten hurt if this door dropped while any of us were going in/out of garage or just standing within the door. We immediately informed Joseph of the issue and told him what was reported by two other companies, and WE WERE NEVER INFORMED OF the door installation WITHOUT the correct springs to support the door would be an issue. If we were told informed we could have made the decision to pay for the heavier springs or have the correct door re-ordered, since the wrong door was ordered to begin with. Now they WANTED TO CHARGE A SERVICE FEE TO COME LOOK AT THE DOOR AND CHARGE US FOR THE HEAVIER SPRINGS.
I have referred this company to my other neighbors, NOW I regret it. I will NEVER USE or refer Deaign Garage Doors to ANYONE ELSE ever.
